I Don’t Care! – 10 Things To Stop Caring About

10 Things To Stop Caring About Today!
1. Stop caring about everyone’s opinion of you.
For the most part, what other people think and say about you doesn’t matter. You cannot regulate what others think of you. Expending energy caring for things that you cannot personally control, is futile. Unless you’re trying to make a great first impression (ie...job interview, first date, etc.), don’t enable the viewpoints of others to stand in your way. What they assume and declare about you isn’t beneficial. What is essential is precisely how you feel about yourself.
2. Stop caring about being politically correct.
Your environment dictates what is politically correct. While in Central America, being overweight doesn’t carry the same "meaning" as it does here in North America. I remember a child looking at me in total wonder and stating in Spanish, "you are sooooo fat" This wasn’t an insult but instead a declaration of amazement. He probably hadn't seen many 280lb 6’2" men my size. It was more a proclamation than an insult.
We all have an intrinsic filter based on what is socially tolerable for our culture. In all reality, they are only opinions, forceful opinions that have the potential to completely brainwash you of your own opinions if you aren’t careful. I am not suggesting speaking without a filter, or that you should start randomly throwing the F-Bomb needlessly and acting like a fool. On the other hand, you need to say what you need to say when you need to say it. If it isn’t politically correct, so what.
Don’t censor yourself. Speak the truth. Dr. Seuss said "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
3. Stop caring about appearing a specific way.
There is no right way to dress or right way to wear your hair. I’m not saying to you should dress like a clown merely to rebel either. Anyone who deliberately aims to look unique ends up looking the same as everyone else.
Be you, just the way you are, in the unique way only you know how. Wear clothes and styles you feel comfortable wearing. Dress the way YOU dress. You are one of a kind. Trying to look like someone else is a waste of your own time and energy. Our cognitive perspective of how cool or foolish we look is never reality. How many times have you seen someone who is dressed in something that doesn’t appeal to your liking, but that person thinks they are too cool for school? In this mad planet, that’s seeking to influence you there is a "style and fashion" you must conform to, ,find the courage wear and look any way you wish. And don't judge others for the way they look.
4. Stop caring about what everyone else demands for you.
Regrettably, just before you take your first step on the journey to pursue your dreams, people around you, even the ones who sincerely care for you, will give you poor advice. It’s not because they have evil motives. It’s because they don’t understand YOUR big picture. How can they possibly know what your dreams, passions and life goals mean to you.
The late Steve Jobs said: "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." Follow your own intuition and own dreams religiously.
5. Stop caring about the constraints others set up you.
No matter how much growth you make, there will be a naysayer and a pessimist to try and bring you down. They may incessantly claim that the idea or dream as a whole is utterly ridiculous because nobody really cares. When you come across these people, don’t try to reason with them. Instead ignore everything they say to you. Try what you want to try. Go where you want to go. Follow your own desires. Don’t let others put a cage around you. Whenever somebody discredits you and tells you that you can’t do something, keep in mind that they are speaking from within the boundaries of their own limitations.
6. Stop caring about what everyone else has.
When you catch yourself comparing yourself to anyone else, STOP! Realize that you are different, and live in a reality and world, that no one else does. The problem with many of us, is that we assume we’ll be happy when we reach a certain level in life. A level we see others obtaining. This is a great fallacy of life! Nothing you can dream about having, is the reality of your perception when you achieve it.
Instead, appreciate where you are and what you have right now. You cannot even compare yourself to those who have less. As you do not live their reality, which might be better than your own, in their minds. Open your mind to your own reality where you are right now, and set goals for where you want to be, knowing that those goals will change in the future.
7. Stop caring about the imaginary state of perfect.
Perfection doesn’t exist. Even the most super of models are insecure about something on their body. In your eyes, something can be perfect to your perception. This is a lie. Nothing is perfect nor should be. We set such high bars for ourselves that set us up for failure when we do not achieve what is in our own mind as perfection. We become unimpressed and disheartened when we fail to meet the impossibly high standards we set for ourselves, making us unlikely to take on new challenges or even finish tasks we’ve already started. We beat ourselves. Our insistence on dotting every “I” and crossing every “T” breeds inefficiency, causing major delays, stress overload and mediocre results.
Instead, you should strive for the passion for excellence which drives us to run the extra mile, never stopping, never giving in, but at the end of the day, we need to realize we did our best and that is ALL we can do. This dedication towards perfection undoubtedly helps us to achieve, so long as we don’t get carried away. Remember, the real world doesn’t reward perfectionists. It rewards people who get things done. And the only way to get things done is to be imperfect 99% of the time.
8. Stop caring about being right all the time.
We all dance to the beat of a different drummer. There is no right or wrong. There are only consequences. What’s right for you may be wrong for me, and vise versa. People need to live their lives their way - the way that’s right for them with ZERO regard to what others think or say. The only one who needs to live with you 24/7 is YOU!.
When it comes to life choices and opinions, not much is worth fighting about. There is no way to convince someone that you are right and they are wrong, when they believe they are right. As a psych nurse, the greatest thing we learn about patients that are delusional is to play along. You cannot convince them that the paranoia or belief they are from the planet Zorton, sent to save the world from galactic attack, is IMPOSSIBLE! Step back from arguments with your spouse, family members or neighbors. Instead, open your mind to new ideas and opinions. Don’t just concentrate on what others are doing or saying, spend time figuring out what they are doing and saying and why.
9. Stop caring about mistakes.
Mistakes teach you important lessons. The biggest mistake you can make is doing nothing because you’re too scared to make a mistake. So don’t hesitate - don’t doubt yourself. In life, it’s rarely about getting a chance; it’s about taking a chance. You’ll never be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing, won’t work. Most of the time you just have to go for it! . An expert by definition is someone "who has made all the mistakes which can be made in a very narrow field" -Niels Henrik David Bohr. Mr. Bohr was The Nobel Prize in Physics 1922 was awarded for his services in the investigation of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them.
10. Stop caring about things you can’t control.
Most EVERYTHING is out of your control, except your perception. Accept this fact of life. Wasting your time, talent and emotional energy on things that are beyond your control is a recipe for frustration, misery and stagnation, ultimately leading to anxiety and stress.
The smartest thing you can do, is realize that you can’t control ANYTHING except your perception and attitude. Your attitude has a profound effect on your overall potential. You can’t change a situation, but you can change how you react to it. Stop trying to control that which is out of you control, which is nearly everything. Go with the current, don’t swim against it. Stop controlling and learn how not to care about these 10 things.
